After a long break from live performance, Lynda has recently embarked on conceptualising a very special, now sold out, event.
In May 2025, set in the former Uniting Church on Bathurst Road, Orange, Lynda will combine her own take on the the evocative music of singer-songwriter, musician and Mental Health advocate, Alanis Morrisette, with her own storytelling and personal insights on the road to wellbeing from difficult health challenges
“I’ve always enjoyed singing Alanis’ songs to the steering wheel.. but realised over recent years we have a lot more in common than our respective love of music”
Lynda discovered Alanis Morrisette also has a passion for destigmatising mental health conditions and for fanning the flame of wellbeing, via her podcast “Conversations with Alanis Morrisette” and via whatever positive practices are good for the individuals’ mind, body and soul.
"I chose, for this event, to perform a selection of her incredible songs.. and to combine my own experiences on the mental health path, having loved a parent who was extremely unwell for the first half of my life - which was tough but has also had very life affirming takeaways".
"My greater perspective on the subject grew as in the second half of my life, I learned a lot about dealing with my own unexpected challenges .. its been a tough road all up.. but one of self education, courage and ultimately of acceptance.” Lynda says even though she would never have asked for such experiences, it’s hard to deny a path that has gifted so much personal growth and self awareness.
“The subject of our Mental Health is incredibly complex and can be a heavy one, but on this night I truly want to throw a little light out there to remind us all of the power of the things that unify us all, small conscious acts of kindness, and the value of real conversation.”
Last, but never least of all.. Lynda is focused on the magical and healing power of music which will be shared by all on the night.
“For me… it is the glue..”
Lynda looks forward to performing on this special and intimate evening with local musician and friend, Steven Sommerville.
“I just want us all to go home feeling inspired and connected .. feeling good ! and I really can’t wait to dim the lights and dive head first into performing the clever and immersive songs of Alanis Morrisette.”
Keep an eye for forthcoming video excerpts from this one off and unique performance.
